CEO Kim Il of BioEngine, who developed joint health functional food 'Strong node'

Bioengine, a global healthcare oriental medicine pharmaceutical company led by CEO Kim Il, has launched a joint health functional food called "Sturdy node." This product is receiving good responses from consumers, as it was sold out within a month of its release. I heard from CEO Kim Il about the reason for starting a bioengine, the motivation and differentiation of the development of "Sturdy node," anecdotes in the development process, and future plans.

Bioengine CEO Kim Il, a global healthcare oriental medicine pharmaceutical company, has developed joint health functional food called "Strong Noderma." He is also an oriental medicine doctor who works in collaboration with oriental medicine and medicine in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, and specializes in spinal and joint clinics that specialize in treating spinal and joint diseases with saliva, moxibustion, and medicine. What is the difference between joint health functional food made by oriental medicine doctors.

joint health functional food

Glucosamine-containing joint health functional food developed by oriental medicine doctors and herbalists. It is a product made of glucosamine, an essential component of cartilage, and MSM, fish collagen, water-soluble seaweed calcium, radish powder, sweet ginseng root, safflower seed, oseul root, and Chamdang root as subsidiary materials, which are good for joint and cartilage health. It is a small ring type and can be taken twice a day and once with water.

I understand that he developed his own health functional food called 'Sturdy node' that is good for joints. What made you develop this product?

My mother, who is over 80, suffered a lot from knee arthritis. I made this product as one of my treatments because my family is suffering from arthritis. In 2019, I started bioengine, an agricultural company, and started product development with the hope that fermenting herbal medicine with a recently researched good functional raw material would have better effects.

How long did it take to develop the "Sturdy node"?

It took some time to see the doctor as usual at the hospital and to conduct research to achieve the best effect by mixing herbal medicine and functional ingredients after work. We applied for research and development of local government support projects and devoted ourselves to research and commercialization of products for three years.

Were there any difficulties in developing the product?

Since herbal medicine is effective depending on the temperature of fermentation and the ratio of the combination, the Jeonbuk Bio Convergence Promotion Agency, established by Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province to foster agricultural life, food, and bio industries, used a one-stop value chain system to find "appropriate fermentation" and "appropriate combination."

And after two full years of research, I found a patented fermentation method. In particular, in October of last year, we created a product that has excellent digestion and absorption and prevents knee arthritis, and we commercialized the product this year and began selling it in April.

What was the consumer's response after the product was marketed?

As "Strongly Madimadi" was sold out within a month of its release, it gained confidence in further development of the product.

Kim Il, who developed the joint health functional food "Strong Joint," previously developed a variety of products, including Bangui 888, a fermented black ginseng extract, through joint research at the "Korean Medical Herb Research Society" joined by oriental doctors and herbalists across the country. In the process, he found that fermenting herbal medicines at around 24 degrees Celsius produces excellent performance.

I think consumers are most curious about the efficacy and characteristics of the product. Please explain in detail what ingredients the 'strong joint' is made of.

Glucosamine, the main component of the "strong joint," helps cells and cells to combine, and composes mucous membranes and joint lubricants to help joint and cartilage health. It is a product made of glucosamine, an essential component of cartilage, and MSM, fish collagen, water-soluble sea calcium, vitamin D3, vitamin E, magnesium gluconate, zinc gluconate, white-necked mushroom powder, tote powder, dried quince, radish powder, safflower seeds, oseul (kkkneedle) roots, and Cham sugar ear roots are used as sub-materials without using additives and sweeteners.
